Frequently Asked Questions

What is a social media consultant?

With the ever-changing terrain of social media, the job of a social media consultant is to keep you informed and up to date on how to use social media to best represent yourself, your business, and/or your brand. A consultant works with you and your company on a one-on-one basis to help you determine what business goals can be best supported using social media. Then, we will help you to map out a plan, identifying weaknesses and strengths and accounting for both, including realistic timeframes for managing it within your business. The bottom line is: if you are doing social media without a plan, a consultant is the right place to start.

What is involved in developing a strategy?

Running social media without a strategy is like driving to a new destination without GPS or directions! A strategy is the guide that you use to help you plan content, campaigns, advertising, evaluating and learning from your competition, branding, keywords, and other components specific to YOUR brand or business. Whether we are working together in a coaching capacity, or we are building a strategy for you, all of these components go into the plan in order you head in the right direction based on your overall business goals!

Why do you require minimum lengths for your contracts?

Implementing changes to your social media is a marathon, not a sprint. Even if your social media has been relatively active, implementing new strategies, identifying what works and what doesn't, reacting as your audience responds - they all take time. We highly recommend a minimum of six months of commitment when implementing changes to your social media.

Does every business need social media?

In short - probably. There are some businesses that are much easier and intuitive to manage on social media. For example, products are likely easier to market than services, if only for the visual content that comes with a product alone. Some people with successful businesses don't do much with their social media, but if you searched for five of your favorite brands online, you'll likely find that they are killing the social media game as well. If you're unsure, we promise to be honest with you in a consultation on how much - or little - we believe you need to utilize social media to be successful.

Can't I just have my niece/a student do social media for us really cheap?

Maybe! Does this person have specific knowledge of how to use social media to market a product or service? It is a HUGE misnomer that all "young people" understand social media, and therefore can easily manage it on your behalf. We can assure you, many of our clients have come to us after it didn't work out with the "young person" to which they assigned the task. Social media marketing is like any other type of marketing - the people with experience and training are going to give you the best results.
